Terms

Plain and short.

Not written to trap anyone.

The software

ClearNote is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It is a notes application built with a great deal of care about not losing data — including automated tests that block a release if a migration does not add up — but no software is perfect and you should keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. ClearNote’s export exists partly so that is easy.

Your content

Your notes are yours. ClearNote claims no rights over anything you write, store or import, and does not access, analyse or transmit your content except as described on the privacy page — which in practice means: only when you use AI, and only the passages relevant to the question you asked.

Acceptable use

Do not use ClearNote’s AI relay to generate unlawful content, to attack the service, or to resell access to it. The relay applies rate limits and request size limits; sustained abuse may be blocked.

Third-party services

iCloud sync is provided by Apple under Apple’s terms. AI answers are generated by xAI under xAI’s terms. ClearNote is not affiliated with Evernote and simply reads the export files Evernote produces.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ClearNote is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of data, arising from use of the software or this site.

Changes

These terms may change as ClearNote ships. Material changes will be noted in the changelog.
