Mac 1.0.5 13 October 2026
The current release. Download it, or let the app offer it to you.
Search has been rebuilt, and you can now see and free up your storage.
- Search finds what is inside your scans and PDFs. A note titled "Snapshot" is found by the words in its scan, and the result says which attachment matched, with the matching text and a thumbnail
- Numbers and dates match however they were written: 1,914.37, $1,914.37 and 1914.37 are the same search, a loan number matches by its last digits, and 2025 matches 01/03/2025
- New filters: year:2025, in:2025-01, has:text and sort:newest. Search also corrects typos ("showing close matches"), suggests "did you mean", and can relax a search that finds nothing
- Make your own aliases in Settings, Search, for example nationstar = mr cooper = rocket, so one name finds the other
- Better ranking: titles count more than body text, then tags, then attachment text, with a small boost for recent notes and favourites. Sort by relevance, newest or oldest
- Autocomplete for operators, tags and notebooks as you type, recent searches, filter menus for date, notebook, tag and type, and opening a result scrolls to the first match
- Settings, Search shows the state of the search index and has a Rebuild button. The index is checked on launch and repaired if anything is missing
- Settings, Storage shows how much space your attachments and notes use. Manage Attachments lists the biggest files and lets you delete them, with an Undo
- Quota messages now say what happened and what to do
Mac 1.0.2 1 September 2026
A large release, mostly about importing and about attachments.
- Checklists and code blocks now come across from Evernote. Exports made by recent versions of Evernote write them a different way, and ClearNote was quietly turning checklists into plain bullets and losing their ticks
- Importing a large archive no longer uses several gigabytes of memory. A 700 MB export now costs about the same as a 1.5 GB one
- Notes and attachments are no longer left behind when a push is too large. One oversized note used to stop a device syncing entirely, and kept trying every thirty seconds
- A note the server will not accept is now written down and shown in Settings, with what was wrong. It used to disappear without a word
- Attachment uploads survive a bad minute: they retry, they honour the server's own pacing, and a note is never reported as imported when its attachments did not arrive
- Paste an image and it appears where the caret is, on both platforms. Files can be dropped on the editor or on a row in the note list
- Attachments say what they are — kind, size, page count, a real first-page thumbnail — open in Quick Look, and can be renamed
- Notes can be moved and tagged from the editor, from a right-click, or several at once
- Scanning has a review screen: rotate, crop by the corners, reorder, retake, and choose colour, greyscale or black and white with the size shown as you choose. A ten-page scan went from 30 MB to under 6
- File, then Scan or Edit Images, does the same for photographs already on your Mac
- Fixes six screens that were laid out wider than an iPhone, including the import wizard, whose Cancel button was off the edge of the screen
- Searching now means the same thing on a Mac, a phone and in a browser, and a whole-word match ranks above a fragment
- ClearNote checks for updates shortly after it opens and once a day while it stays open, which is what the Settings screen always said it did
Mac 1.0.1 1 September 2026
Everything the Mac app has gained since the first beta, in one update.
- Attachments: drag, paste or pick a file into a note, and see it previewed in place rather than as an icon.
- Organising: notebooks, tags, pinning and a trash you can get things back out of.
- Scan and edit: point a camera at a page, correct what was recognised, and keep the text searchable.
- Sign in, so your notes reach your other devices instead of staying on this Mac.
- Evernote imports read modern exports, including checklists and the markup a 2026 export writes.
- Fixes a sync failure where one oversized note could stop a device syncing altogether.

The first beta, for invited testers. The iPhone and iPad app has been built and tested alongside it but has not been released.
- Rich-text notes with headings, lists, checklists, quotes, code, tables, links, images and attachments

- Multi-select bulk actions on notes: favourite, move, tag, merge and trash together
- Share a note as a read-only link
- Evernote ENEX migration: streaming import, notebook reconstruction, duplicate handling, byte-level verification and a saveable report
- Local full-text search across notes, tasks, attachment names, recognised text and PDF text
- On-device document scanning and text recognition
- Tasks with natural-language quick add, repeats, priorities, projects, labels and local reminders
- Ask ClearNote: retrieval over your own notes with citations, plus optional web search
